Oxford Archery Training Centre – Winter Term 2016-17 – Development Tier

Winter 2017 Term – Development Tier

Archers who have completed the Foundation Course in the Autumn Term are invited to join the centre again for the Winter Term of 8 weekly development squad session to continue working on their archery. Unlike the theory foundation course these sessions will mainly be run squad-style, with archers working as a group or in teams to challenge each other and accelerate development. In addition there will be one-to-one coaching sessions focussing on individual technique, equipment, strength and conditioning, and training methods. All of this will be brought together to provide each archer with their own personal development plan.

Sessions will take place Saturdays 11.30 – 1pm at the Rugby Club, North Hinksey, starting on January 7 and finishing on February 25. Any archer on the Development Course is permitted to attend any repeat sessions on the Foundation Course (which take place on Saturdays 9am-11.30am) to refresh their learning in key areas.

4 February is half term, and there will be no session that Saturday.

As with the foundation course your joining fee for the term includes all of these sessions with no hidden additional costs.

Examples of these squad-style sessions include (but are not limited to):

Individual head-to-head practice

Team head-to-head practice

Volume drills

Individual technique focus sessions using slow motion video analysis

Intensive tuning and equipment customization sessions to get the best fit and performance from your kit

Learning the advanced training methods used by elite archers at international level

Oxford Archery Training Centre – Winter Term 2016-17 – Foundation Tier

About the centre

Sign up using the links below for the Winter Term 2017 of coaching and workshops at the Oxford Archery training centre, in partnership with ArcheryGB. As in the Autumn Term, the centre will deliver more than 20 hours of structured tuition in 8 sessions over an 8 week term – your joining fee for the term gives you access to all of these, and there are no hidden additional costs. The course structure is designed to improve your skills as an archer in four key areas: technique, physical fitness, equipment, and psychological preparedness. At the start of term a thorough assessment will help you set a baseline and your goals for the term, and to help us split you into groups according to your current skills and performance level. This is repeated at the end of term so that you can see how far you have met your goals and to identify areas for further improvement; results will be provided to all archers along with videos of their shooting and other resources on a USB stick.

Archers of all bowstyles and ages are welcome – all we ask is that you have the will and dedication to improve your archery.
